Jambo! We have arrived in Nairobi and we are all doing well! Yesterday was a very long day but we got a lot accomplished. We have met with our local missionaries and began our mission right away. This morning we awoke at about 4:30 am to go feed the kids in the streets. We were blessed to have about 50 children and adults and the food we prepared yesterday was plentiful! The experience this morning was very difficult for our American eyes to witness but we trust that God is using us to speak to these people and feed them physically and spiritually. At dawn the kids scattered and our work was done but fortunately, we will be returning tomorrow morning to feed them again and play some football (soccer!!)
Thats all the time we have for now. Please continue to pray! Thank you all for your support!

Y'all just keep on doing what you're doing there and we'll keep on praying for you here. And remember, Emmanuel means "God with us" and He is there with you. - Randy Whitmer
ReplyDeleteYAAY! You guys don't know me but I'm an old friend/former student of Melissa's. I've been praying for you guys like crazy...
ReplyDeleteWhile singing during our church worship service recently, all I could picture were masses of Kenyans singing and worshipping and I broke down and wept (Melissa can tell you I'm not a weeper). It was odd. I'm in the States, singing in Spanish, worshipping with Kenyans (and a whole boatload of nations!)... but that's just the kind of God we serve-- a God whose love is powerful enough to obliterate barriers like language, distance, social class and culture.
I'm excited for what God is doing in and through you in Kenya. I pray that you would keep seeing Him through the "barriers" of poverty or hunger or inequality or differential cultures and that you'd see God working in you through your own barriers both abroad and back home.
Always, Itamar
P.S. I'm also praying that you remember to stretch before playing soccer/football and that you NOT forget to apply sunscreen!
